On Friday night, former players, friends and the Fontana family came out to honor the man who set a standard all SHS baseball teams have tried to live up to since Fontana’s retirement in 2003.Īnd as John Fontana, who passed away in 2019, would have expected, the night was about SHS baseball as much as him. Well, for 41 years, John Fontana built a resume at Southington High School unlike any other.Īs a result, the Southington baseball team has called Fontana Field home for the past 20 years.
